There are some days where things go quite different than expected. Last week, I was invited to take part in a roundtable meeting with some Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). I was representing Cordys, and, being a vendor of software for ISVs, I wanted to participate in meaningful but a small role. It was a relaxing drive to the venue, filled with good music and an inspiring morning ahead of me. No presentations, no demonstrations, just listening to the customers. But all this changed completely after a … Read more

Are telcos just network providers? Mobile World Congress telco cloud report
Hi. I had the pleasure of spending time in Barcelona a couple of weeks ago at Mobile World Congress discussing the telco cloud. As a former soccer player, sadly I didn’t get to see the Barcelona vs Real Madrid match live. If you saw the result, you know why Barcelona city center was quiet that night… (3-1 Real and Ronaldo scored two). However, we did manage to catch the game on TV at one of my favorite restaurants in the … Read more
GARTNER IT EXPO BARCELONA – A FUSION OF OLD AND NEW..?
I’ve been in the IT industry for about 3 years now, and as a relatively new face in the crowd, I’m trying to gather as much information as humanly possible. But as we all collect our information and feed our brains with all kinds of visual or textual stimuli, we tend to forget to develop a thought process to structure all this knowledge. Eventually, we put it to good use whenever we need it and how we need it. Archived … Read more
Cloud Computing Expo Smiles and Frowns
I just returned from a week at the Cloud Computing Expo in Santa Clara, the heart of Silicon Valley, and it was informative. I was able to peer into the ‘state of the art’ in terms of the infrastructure and capabilities being built by the various players in the Cloud Service Provider value chain. I saw some incredibly encouraging developments, and also some that were not so encouraging. I’ll comment on a couple here. Utility Computing – The breakthroughs in … Read more
Cloud brokering revisited – a customer solution showcase.
Hi, welcome to my latest post and apologies for the recent lack of writing – it is event season and I’ve been at the Forrester and Gartner events in Orlando. Having been at those events, Cordial 2012 and the recent Telco Cloud Enablers Summit – the cloud conversation has definitely evolved and matured from this time last year. 80-90% of the conversations I had at recent events is that we’ve moved from organizations being cautious about the cloud to a … Read more
Cordial 2012 – The Big Shift – Action Replay- Part 2
Day 2 of Cordial started with everyone comparing who had the best sunset photo from the helicopter flights the evening before – my personal favourite was from Daniel Spithout. As soon as the queue for the coffee machine had subsided, we started the day with Hans de Visser (Cordys CMO) talking about how the Dutch had mastered the cloud very early in 17th century art. He was followed by Jan Baan explaining how an organization’s processes should be driven by … Read more
Cordial 2012 – The Big Shift – Action Replay- Part 1
As I write this the final session of Cordial 2012 is coming to a close. I think it is fair to say this was the biggest and best of the three Cordials I’ve been to in my career at Cordys. The line up of speakers was outstanding ranging from enterprise and service providers customers, partners from all over the world, leading industry analysts from IDC and Forrester and finally two fantastic guest speakers. The weather stayed fine and attendees at … Read more
Leveraging Cloud-Based Platforms-as-a-Service (PaaS) to Improve Your Business Processes
For decades, organizations have been trying to improve their business processes to keep pace with escalating customer demands, rising competitive pressures and changing end-user requirements with limited success. The promise of business process reen generic viagra soft gineering (BPR) in the 1980s gave way to business process outsourcing (BPO) in the 1990s with only limited success. And, over the past decade, the economic downturn has made it even more critical that organizations change the way they operate. THINKstrategies believes that … Read more
Cloud. Big data. Mobile. Social. PaaS. BPM. You are Cordial-ly invited to find out more.
I’ve been to three Cordials now in my time at Cordys. When I compare them to the previous corporate events I attended when I worked at BEA and Oracle – Cordial does bring something different. Excluding the world class program, I guess the thing it brings is intimacy. There are lots of reasons to be at Cordial – so I thought I’d pull together my top 10: Read more
The Big Shift
I am in Paris right now at Forrester’s CIO Forum and the event was kicked off by Forrester CEO George Colony with a very intriguing keynote labeled Digital First, addressing how companies use digital technologies to completely disrupt “analog” businesses. Read more
